The Red ZONE, PINK ZONE or GREEN ZONE
Several years ago, Sony sent me on a Leadership scheme at Stockholm School of Economics Executive Education, based on a book called Radical Collaboration® by Jim Tamm.
Afterward, I immediately sought out Jim and convinced him to teach me how to teach Radical Collaboration. Spending time with Jim (and Malou Catherine Laureys ) was life-changing (in a Medieval castle in Belgium, with a moat end everything, which was cool).
Below is Jim’s concept of describing the culture of an organization. (Credit Jim Tamm) have a look at his Ted Talk too!
The RED ZONE is a more adversarial, conflicted, and hostile environment. The PINK ZONE is a more conflict-avoidant, passive-aggressive environment.
The GREEN ZONE is a more collaborative, supportive environment. We rarely see an organization that is pure RED ZONE, PINK ZONE, or GREEN ZONE; most are a unique combination of all three, to varying degrees.
However, the chart below gives you a good indication of the difference between an organization that is primarily RED or PINK or mainly GREEN.
The sh*t Jim taught me really works – in one study in 94 different organizations toxic conflict was reduced by 67% through teaching collaborative skills.
67!!!
IT CHANGED MY LIFE, LEADERSHIP AND MY TEAMS.
Now be honest…
Are you seeing more RED, PINK or GREEN in your organisation?
If you’re not shouting “GREEN”, and you want your organisation and the good people to stay around and thrive DM me on my LinkedIn, I can help you.
